The For You Project is an Non-Governmental Organisation which was established in 2003 in Kfar Qara by a group of Arab women who wish to bring about social change. Sources of employment are usually limited for Arab women, especially in their own villages or nearby.  Employment options in Arab villages have dwindled over the last years, because of the transfer of textile factories to neighboring countries, the hiring of foreign workers for agriculture jobs, and the conversion of private agricultural land into private and commercial real estate.  Women who have earned academic degrees also fail to find a job in their field of education.  The difficulties in finding employment and personal fulfillment, further contributes to the erosion of the social status of Arab women.

In these economic times an average family needs more than one wage earner.  The difficulties Arab women face in finding a job create new problems within the families and the society, such as marrying girls at a young age in order to reduce family costs.  Thus, both women and their daughters are installed with the notion that they are a financial burden.

The initiative to start the For You program came from the wish to provide a response to the wants and needs of Arab women.  The program has initiated projects and workshops in different areas including, financial empowerment together with the Al-Ahli organization.  This project operated for two years and trained 23 women in the traditional way of pressing olives.  Six of these women have started a co-op for pressing and selling olives.  This is the origin of the great olives which we sell.
