About SAHA

SAHA is the Hebrew acronym for fair trade and the Arabic word for “health” or “wellbeing”. That’s what SAHA is all about- an alternative economy where consumers can buy high quality, sustainable, and healthful products, and small farmers and producers in Palestine and Israel can support their families. SAHA is a part of the international Fair Trade movement, and we abide by high standards for a respectful, responsible, and transparent trading relationship.

Social Solidarity.
In Israel and Palestine, fair trade is a unique part of the movement for peace as an opportunity for positive interaction and expression of solidarity through trade.  When you buy SAHA products, you directly support the people who are most affected by the occupation and ongoing conflict—small farmers and producers from marginalized communities on both sides of the Green Line.

Economic Justice.

SAHA works directly with farmers and producers to create the highest quality products and bring them to markets around the world. We recognize the inequalities that keep producers out of the market and use a feminist and anti-racist approach,  especially seeking out producer cooperatives of women and ethnically marginalized people.

Sustainable Development.

A steady income and fair prices mean our farmers and producers don’t have to worry about having enough to provide for their families. It also means community development—money for education, social services, capacity-building—whatever the community decides it needs. Fair trade is not charity. It’s a movement to put the power to become self-sufficient  back into the hands of small farmers and producers.
